Learn more about MACD with Alex Spiroglou.
What is MACD-v?
In 2015, Alex Spiroglou developed MACD-v, a hybrid momentum indicator that combines the
strengths of range-bound oscillators (like RSI) and unbound indicators (like MACD).
Award-Winning Research
In 2022, Alex published his research, "MACD-v: Volatility Normalized Momentum," which earned:
- The NAAIM “Founder’s” Award for advances in active investment management.
- The CMT Association “Charles H. Dow” Award for excellence in technical analysis.
What You'll Learn in this 2-hour workshop
Join us to explore this innovative tool and its applications:
1. MACD-v (Pro) Signal Line
Both the classic MACD and MACD-v rely on the signal line to indicate momentum shifts. However, due to its lagging nature, this often results in delayed signals, especially in highly volatile markets. The MACD-v Pro eliminates the signal line, allowing for momentum shifts to be detected 2 to 5 bars earlier—enhancing responsiveness and precision!
2. MACD-v (Pro) Momentum Structure
Identifying momentum highs and lows in the MACD-v unlocks the potential for systematic pattern recognition strategies, enhancing precision and consistency in trading.
3. S.M.A.R.T. Trend
The 200-bar moving average is the most classic tool for defining trends, but it provides a binary signal—bullish above the MA, bearish below it. The S.M.A.R.T. Moving Average, however, introduces six distinct stages, each color- coded for clarity. Join us to learn how to identify when the market is primed for aggressive exposure and when caution is warranted. All of this is powered by the S.M.A.R.T. Trend—plus, discover how to integrate it seamlessly with the MACD-v for even greater trading insights!
4. MACD-v Chart Checklist
Alex has created the 4-S Framework for Strategy design: The SETUP, SIGNAL, STOP, SIZE. The MACD-v can help you in all aspects of your trading by applying a rules- based framework. Have the MACD-v as a Decision Support System that will keep you in the right trend, improve your timing and when you will exit.
